It’s only the first weekend of 2018, but thanks to the bad weather over the Christmas period, we’ve got some cracking racing to preview for you this weekend. Our tipster clocked up quite a few miles over the festive season, and that’s only set to continue in 2018 as this weekend we’ve sent her to Sandown, but as always she’s picked out her top chances from elsewhere.

Well, welcome to 2018! My first tip comes of the day comes from Chepstow and is trained by Nicky Henderson.  Having won his last two competitive outings in good company We Have A Dream looks to have the class to complete a three-timer today.

Now to Sandown. Perfect Pirate has started the season well for Ben Pauling, and he looks the one to beat here.  Nico De Boinville is set to pilot him around the course and at his current price of 4/1 he looks great value.

Gino’s Trail finished first at Cheltenham last time out, and I feel this race will only continue his strong improvement.  Kerry Lee will hope for another win with the prospect of Cheltenham on the cards, but he’ll face stiff competition from the likes of Speredek, so will have to pull out all the stops here.

It’s the veterans race that has caught my eye for my last tip at Sandown. I’ve got a soft spot for 14/1 chance Theatrical Star, and he looks a decent each-way chance here if you’re willing to take a punt.

My final tip of the day comes in the Welsh Grand National at Chepstow, rescheduled due to bad weather,  my pick of the bunch in Sue Smith-trained Vintage Clouds. Now priced 8/1 if you had money on him earlier in the week you would have got as high as 12/1, who after two strong seconds this season will be looking to go one further in what I expect to be his last run before the National at Aintree in April.
