We’ve already had some nice little tasters of the battles we’ll see 2017/18 National Hunt season, and this weekend we’re set for the first big race as we’re off to Wetherby for the Charlie Hall Chase.

It might be getting cold in the North East, but this isn’t stopping our tipster from heading off to the track and picking out her top tops – don’t worry we’ll make sure she has a nice warm coat.

The first horse on her radar has to be Cue Card. Back for another National Hunt season, Colin Tizzard must have strong belief that the now 11-year-old can make an even bigger impact than before, might we finally see that Gold Cup win?

It seems more likely that a path for the season will be formed after this race, with Kempton his expected target at Christmas.  He’s a decent jumper whose know the Wetherby course, and if we see a strong performance, 5/2 might be the biggest price you’ll get for him all season.

Since winning the Gold Cup in 2015, Coneygree hasn’t had the best of luck when it comes to racing.  But, his trainer is hoping he can get back to winning ways here. Priced as favourite for the race despite his long absences, he does have the potential to cause an upset.
